Universe Mind Video Mapping Show // New Media Night

At midnight from the 5th to the 6th of July 2014 Radugadesign opened “New Media Night” festival in Nikola-Lenivets with video mapping show.

The “Universe Mind” architectural piece by Nikolay Polissky, the most sophisticated structure for video mapping, was chosen as the object for the installation. “Murcof” electronic music served as the inspiration for the show.

Music: Murcof – Death of a Forest, Welcome to Versailles.

320° Licht // Spatial Experience

The “320° Licht” installation of URBANSCREEN uses the cathedral-like beauty of the Gasometer Oberhausen as the starting point for a fascinating game with shapes and light.

Within a radius of 320 degrees graphic patterns grow and change on the 100-metre high inside wall of the Gasometer.

The observer experiences the interplay between real and virtual space, in which the Gasometer seems to dissolve into its own, filigree structures and yet finally always reverts to its clear shape.

With approx. 20,000 square meters of area played upon, the installation is among the world’s largest and technically most sophisticated interior projections – interconnecting 21 powerful projectors to one projection screen.

“320° Licht” is part of the exhibition ‘The Appearance of Beauty’ – the variety of beauty in art that is shown inside the Gasometer. The Gasometer Oberhausen opens this exhibition from 11th April until 30th December.

Line Segments Space by Kimchi & Chips

Line Segments Space (Projection, Nylon string, Code) by Kimchi & Chips (Mimi Son & Elliot Woods).

Sound Design by Junghoon Pi.

An architectural web of threads subtends a null space. It hangs abstract and undefined, a set of thin positive elements segmenting the dark negative space between. Dynamic imaginary forms are articulated into the physical volume by the material of this thread, and the semi-material of the light. The visual gravity of the filaments occupying the space between.

A 2D canvas is reduced from a surface piece into a line segment, but then constructed into another dimension, a volume. Light creates contrast and order on the lines to articulate digital matter. Digital forms inhabit the interconnected boundaries of space, becoming incarnate as visual mass.

OBJEKT V | Augmented Sculpture

OBJEKT V is an augmented sculpture developed in the scope of an artistic research project with the working title LUMEN. The conceptual starting point of the associated works was to create wall objects located in the dynamic area between virtuality and reality.

The projected light – the virtual dimension of OBJEKT V – influences the relationship between the sculpture and the surrounding space. With a high end projector, as the only physical illuminant, we tried to achieve the illusion of multiple light sources interacting with both the sculpture and its ambiance. By merging the object shadows with their virtual counterparts, the logical reactions of light and shadow are subtly subverted to cause slight and yet playful irritations of the spectator’s perception.

Imagineers In Exile: Projection Mapping Storytelling

Imagineers in Exile is an immersive art installation / theatrical production in which the audience is surrounded by illustrations of bizarre lands and creatures on every wall. Projection mapping brings the drawings to life and guides the audience around the space as if they were inside the pages of an epic adventure. Some characters and situations from the paper manifest themselves in live performance. It’s a wholly new concept combining digital story telling, immersive theatre, and traditional ink and paper illustration.

Directed, projected, illustrated, animated, filmed, edited & performed by a dandypunk.

The aim was to attempt to invoke the magical and inspiring feeling of watching “Labyrinth” or “The Neverending Story” for the first time as a child–only now for an older audience.

Box

Box explores the synthesis of real and digital space through projection-mapping onto moving surfaces. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely in camera.

Bot & Dolly produced this work to serve as both an artistic statement and technical demonstration. It is the culmination of multiple technologies, including large scale robotics, projection mapping, and software engineering.

Trip by vjsuave

A spiritual journey in search of self-knowledge, conscience and love. This short movie was produced independently and recorded during vjsuave‘s residency at “Shiny Toys Festival” in Germany.

Vjsuave is Ygor Marotta and Ceci Soloaga, a new media art duo based in Sao Paulo, as specialists in moving projection they create movies that are poignant, warm and personal, crafted from hand-drawn media, transformed into digital animation then projection-mapped in a way that seems to bring streets alive. Characters walk across the landscape with a convincing blend of movement and real moving projections.

Animation: Juli Perez, Dante Zaballa, vjsuave • Character Design: Ygor Marotta • Sound: Bmind.

Light Echoes

Traces of light are broadcast onto landscapes by a moving laser aboard a train. In Light Echoes, we collapse time and space into images which document the historical pulses of data in the form of light reflecting off earth and matter • This is the first expression of an ongoing series.

Created by Aaron Koblin & Ben Tricklebank // Music by Shigeto – “Detroit Part 1”.

Time Tilings

“Architecture is judged by eyes that see, by the head that turns, and the legs that walk. Architecture is not a synchronic phenomenon but a successive one, made up of pictures adding themselves one to the other, following each other in time and space, like music.”

Le Corbusier. Modulor I. // Four site-specific interventions by Pablo Valbuena.

Evolució by Onionlab // Mapping Festival 2013

Onionlab presents Evolució, a piece that revolves around the graphic and sound abstraction of the concept it is named after: evolution. It is construed as transformation, construction and alteration of reality through time; evolution as a discontinuous creation process as well.

Piece produced by Onionlab • Directed by Aleix Fernández • Music & sound design: Leiko.
