Whale Heart

Silas lives in an isolated whaling town, toiling for months in the harsh and bloody trade on which he and his community depend. However, in order to be capable of killing the creatures whose bone and blubber pay his wage, he has developed an ungodly method for extracting his emotions.

The time has now come for his only son to be initiated into the grim and dangerous whaling life, and Silas must be the one to teach him.

The Caged Pillows

The Caged Pillows is an interactive animated film from Artist Galen Pehrson that blends art, music and entertainment into an operatic and experimental narrative that takes you on a surreal journey through the isolation of technology, media consumption, and the commercialization of our hopes and dreams.

The piece features characters voiced by Jena Malone, Rose McGowan, Gemma Ward and James Franco and a futuristic soundtrack by Daft Punk, Death Grips, Future Islands and Devendra Banhart.

ANA: When Robots Building Robots

What happens when Artificial intelligence becomes self aware and more intelligent than the human race? The film by Factory Fifteen Studio shows one vignette within a bigger picture, highlighting an AI called ANA who deceives Jim, a redundant car factory worker, in giving her full control over the facility.

ANA is imbedded into every major manufacturing industry in the world, including medical and food resources. Her seeming betrayal to mankind could be devastating. Only she knows her true intentions.

In a world full of gray flows peacefully a monotonous life, light is gently drawing a story about unexpectedly sprouting feeling. However, sometimes the thought of being with someone can be dangerous if you are stuck too long in solitude. Will the hero manage to get out from his thick crust, which was created in fear of the society? What role in all of this play Shadow?

But she’s nice …” is the story of the attempt to break out of the cage of loneliness, a desire to overcome yourself to be able to open up to new possibilities, world and feelings.

BOLES: A Short Puppet Animation by Špela Čadež

Filip lives in a poor neighbourhood. He dreams of writer’s glory and luxurious lifestyle in a more prosperous part of town. One day Filip gets a knock on the door. His neighbour Tereza, an older prostitute that Filip tries to avoid by all means, asks him to write a letter for her fiancé. Filip agrees. And it would all end up fine if a week later Tereza would not show up at his doorstep again, asking him to write an answer to the previous letter.

Based on the short story “Her Lover” by Maksim Gorky.
