#WordsOfData: Creating With Tweets

The series #WordsOfData by Aleix Fernández generates serene and repetitive audiovisual structures that are something of an audiovisual mantra, using thousands of Twitter messages as raw material. Each piece is composed of thousands of tweets that come from the hashtags #escape, #music, #tears, #light, #death and #feel, one for each of the hashtags used.

#WordsOfData is a series of medium format pieces that, with the use of mapping projection techniques, focuses on the contrast between an overload of information and the void produced by new technologies.

Each message is represented with a geometric figure, a dot or a line generally, with properties related with the message itself, like its relevance in the social network.

Diplopia 3D: An Stereoscopic Piece About Contrast

Diplopia by Onionlab is the first 3D anagliph mapping piece created and projected in Spain at The International Mapping Festival of Girona 2015 opening ceremony.

Diplopia is an stereoscopic piece that revolves around the concept of binocular vision, that is to say, how our eyes merge two separate images to perceive a single object. Two different points of view that arise as a consequence of binocular disparity.

Diplopia focuses on opposing concepts, such as light and darkness, flexible versus rigid, near and far, noise and silence, wet and dry… The volumetric contrasts and illusion of depth create images intended to confuse, unsettle and fascinate the public.

“In order to enjoy the projection mapping, we strongly recommend to use 3D anaglyph / stereoscopic glasses. If you don’t have any around, please watch the 2D version and try to get ones. But do watch the 3D version. It is worth it!”.

Squarevolution // An Interactive Art Installation

Squarevolution – the story of a square that tries to break out of its two dimensional world to evolve into a three dimensional object.

Squarevolution is an interactive art installation that uses three picture frames, projection mapping and the human impulse of clicking a light switch to start the animated evolutionary development of a square.

The visual artwork was created by Lenny Grade and Christian Diekmann also known as grade die. Their work was completed by Sascha Jatho who composed a great audio track that combines rare old synthesizer sounds with the most recent software development in the field of music.

Bioluminescent Forest

Projections in the Forest: The projection mapping “bioluminescent forest” is made by artists Friedrich van Schoor & Tarek Mawad.

The artists spent six weeks in the forest fascinated by the silence and natural occurrences in nature, especially the phenomenon “bioluminescence”. They personified the forest to accentuate the natural beauty by creating luring luminescent plants and glowing magical mushrooms that speaks volumes to any visitor that enters the minds of the artists through viewing “bioluminescent forest”.

Evolució by Onionlab: Signal Festival Version 2014

Onionlab presents Evolució Signal Festival version, the continuation of the project called Evolució, firstly exhibed at Mapping Festival of Geneva.

Evolució is a project that revolves around the graphic and sound abstraction of the concept it is named after: evolution. It is construed as transformation, construction and alteration of reality through time; evolution as a discontinuous creation process as well.

Created with 3D projection mapping techniques, this time, Evolució was projected onto the façade of the Santa Ludmila Church, though the piece takes the evolution concept even further: It was conceived as an open transformation process so that it can also be adapted to different façades and projection surfaces, and so that Evolució can continue its transformation process.
