Oakin Live @ Querfeld // Fusion Festival 2013

Oakin Live @ Querfeld, Fusion Festival 2013.

“It was a big honour to play at the Fusion Festival because it is my favourite festival and it was a great feeling to be a part of it. Moreover it was the longest set I have ever played in front of an audience and one of my most intensive musical expierences. I was just going with the flow playing some of my all time favourites, some new tunes and some tunes which fitted perfectly into the moment. I hope you enjoy the sound and can feel the vibe. Thanks to the lovely audience!”

Bulb :: Stereogamia: Isolatedmix 38 // May 2013

For his isolatedmix, Daniil Vavilov has paid tribute to the many styles described above and his emerging convergence of ‘Bulb’ and ‘Fill’, putting together a very personal journey. Slithers of light and melody cut through this deep and emotional mix – another sublime addition to the series and a genuine insight into one of my favourite producers of late.

“Stereogamia is a reflection of my current state, that’s how I feel now. You can plunge into my world for a hour and look at it through my eyes in some way. I don’t know anything that would have a stronger impact on me than the music. It is my guide. It’s the first time i’m not using my alias ‘Fill’ for this kind of sound. It can be said that this division is disappearing now.”

Goth-Trad :: Fabriclive x Chestplate Mix // May 2013

“Some people in dubstep were treated like deities. There were these mythical producers who seemed able to command frequencies and ideologies at will. They’re people who still command the same respect and whose name still carries that kind of universal appeal. Goth-Trad is one of those people and as much as his work as a promoter in music in his native Japan have affected and cultivated a scene there, his approach to dubstep music is still pretty much defined by his working relationship with Mala’s, Deep Medi Musik label – the outfit he released his most recent album, New Epoch, through back at the start of last year.”

Hybris :: Fabriclive x Dispatch Mix // April 2013

“Opening his FABRICLIVE promo mix with a track whose vocal refrain harps on about elevating “this sound”, it’s obvious from the very top that Evan Vischi’s vision of drum & bass music is a little bit different. First picked up by Kasra for a release on Critical’s Modulations offshoot in June of 2010 the Prague based producer has continued to advance his craft releasing on labels like Noisia’s Invisible imprint and collaborating with Rido on the Prague Connection, an EP which found a welcome home on Goldie’s scene defining Metalheadz.

Having just released the Gravitron EP on the Leeds based Dispatch Recordings, it’s obviously pretty just that the producer is lined up for their forthcoming Room Three takeover this Friday night but what’s ultimately evident in this 40 minute taster mix is that he plays just how he produces.”

Empire (Space Cadets) :: Nixtape 030 // April 2013

“For those who don’t know, Space Cadets is an incredible deep drum and bass label, with amazing sound design and beautiful production at the heart of what they do. With impressive names on the roster, including Oak and ASC, this is a label with a flawlessly consistent output and is one to watch, consume and tell your friends about.

Such incredible music comes from an eclectic appreciation of all genres, allowing Empire to tailor his mix with effortless success to cross between the sounds we, as labels, believe in.”

V.I.V.E.K :: Mixmag Mix Of The Week // April 2013

Mixmag Mix Of The Week by V.I.V.E.K, London-based dubstep DJ/producer keeping the true nature of the genre alive.

He’s dedicated to the original dubstep vibe: oceanic sub-bass, parties akin to tribal gatherings, stacks of dubplates, soundsystems that have the power to rattle teeth and snap ribs. Raised on Mala’s Deep Medi label between 2009 and 2012, V.I.V.E.K has since struck out with his own club night and label, both called System.

Submerse :: LFTF Mix // March 2013

“Tokyo-based producer Rob Orme aka Submerse is extremely passionate about music. One only has to look at the fact that he has been involved in more than 15 releases since adopting his current moniker some four years ago. That passion is made even more clear with his latest release for Project Mooncircle, his Algorithms and Ghosts EP.

The EP takes inspiration from spending time in the city that he currently calls home. “I took a lot of inspiration from three main points of Tokyo City. There are traditional parks and shrines/temples that really take you away from the high-rise buildings and make you feel like you could be in the countryside. Next, there are typical shops, neon lights, offices and general city life, and lastly, there is the red light area which is a great place to see all walks of life, from gangsters, working girls and strange things behind closed doors. I’m fascinated by this place. It seems like another world to me. I’m always drawn to it out of curiosity, and the feeling I get while passing though is really inspiring.” His latest mix for us takes inspiration from that same city. Close your eyes and imagine walking through the crowded streets of one of the world’s most dense cities while listening to LFTF Mix #21 by the incredibly talented producer Submerse.”
