“When we spoke to him for an edition of Machine Love in 2011, we made the point that Darren White’s career has been one of distinct chapters. Two years on, and we may not have had the seismic shifts such as those between his Future Forces Inc, Bad Company or Autonomic phases, but White has continued his tireless pursuit of innovation. In Chic Anatomy / Den-En-Toshi and Passing Encounter / Scarlett he began exploring straight 4/4 for the first time, passing Drexciyan electro and tense techno as he did so. Meanwhile his label, Exit Records, has issued some seriously far-out club forms in the last 12 months. There’s been Dawn Day Night’s raucous jungle/juke hybrids, FIS’s blackened off-the-grid rhythms, and Om Unit and Sam Binga’s unlikely marriage of drum & bass and boogie.
Exit is as much the star as D-Bridge on RA.358. The mix is comprised mainly of unreleased tracks from the label, much of it lifted from the follow-up to the excellent Mosaic Vol. 1 compilation.”
